BNP Paribas is pleased to announce two appointments to its Global Execution Services (“GES”) business in Asia. The appointments reflect demand for BNP Paribas’ state-of-the-art trading products and services and the bank’s global ambitions in this area.

Brooks Addington joins as the Head of Japan Equities based in Tokyo. He will focus on the enhancement and expansion of BNP Paribas’ Japan cash equity offering and the coverage of Japanese institutional investors. Brooks worked at E*Trade for 10 years, most recently as Vice President, Tokyo Branch Manager, E*TRADE Securities Japan, Ltd. Brooks reports to Pierre Rousseau, Global Head of Equity Brokerage and Stephane Ritz Head of EQD, Japan. The appointment enables Guillaume Lemarchand, Co-Head of GES to relocate from Tokyo to Paris.

Gerry Pablo, based in Hong Kong, has been promoted to Head of Sales, GES, Asia & Japan. Gerry has been with BNP Paribas in Asia since 2006 as a Senior Sales Trader. Gerry will develop sales activity and revenues across all of the GES product lines, with a focus on selling execution services to hedge funds and to the traditional equity cash Asia client base. Gerry will report to Miles Remington Head of Execution and Sales Trading and to Matthew Carr, Co-Head of GES.

These hires follow that of John Bohan as Head of GES for the Americas, who joined recently from Deutsche Bank Securities.

GES is BNP Paribas’ cutting edge execution platform for all cash equity trading. The GES advantage offers solutions for DMA, Algorithmic Trading, Connectivity Solutions, Smart Dark Pools, Global Portfolio Trading, Analytics, Quant Modelling, Advanced Sales Trading and Commission Management.

Commenting on these moves, Matthew Carr, said: “The GES business has seen significant growth over the last couple of years. These appointments will help us to reinforce and maintain our leading position in Japan and Asia. We will be announcing further senior appointments in Europe shortly.”
